Private Pilot Training

A Private Pilot Licence (PPL) allows you to pilot an aircraft on your own, anywhere in Australia, in daylight hours, without needing prior authorization from an instructor.

You can also legally share the aircraft hiring cost with your passengers, however you cannot fly for hire or reward unless you have a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL).

You must obtain a class 2 medical certificate with a designated aviation medical examiner prior to flying solo and hold an aviation security identification card (ASIC).

Course Structure

You will undergo the PPL training in 3 stages.

Stage 1: Basic training

Completion of this stage will culminate in you flying solo for the first time.

Stage 2: Advanced Training

Completion of this stage will result in the issue of your Recreational Pilot Licence.

Stage 3: Navigation Training

Completion of this stage will result in the issue of your Private Pilot Licence.

Course Times

Each course is tailored to the individual and is not run on set course dates. You may undergo this training on a full-time, part-time or casual basis.

Course Duration

The Private Pilot Licence course can be completed on a full time basis in approximately 8 weeks. This time frame is dependent on variables, such as weather conditions and student aptitude and commitment.

Aircraft used for training

Inspire Aviation generally conducts PPL training in our fleet of Cessna 172R, Beechcraft or Piper aircraft. We do from time to time complete PPL training in the owners own private aircraft or aircraft sourced from other places.

Course Components

A PPL consists of two components, Flying and Theoretical Knowledge. While flying is the fun part, some students find it hard to study the theory component, so here at Inspire Aviation we can offer students tailored theory packages to help complete the required theory examinations.
